Visitors on Campus

During school supervision hours, parents and visitors must come through the office and obtain a visitor's badge to enter the Laurelwood campus.  For the safety of the students and staff, parents are asked to stay behind the yellow lines during school hours unless they are volunteering in a classroom.  All deliveries of lunches, homework, backpacks, etc. should be delivered to the school office to ensure student safety and minimize classroom interruptions.  Thank you in advanced for your assistance and support.

Got Tdap?

Parents of 6th Graders: You will need to provide documentation that your child had a Tdap (whooping cough) booster shot given on or after 7 years old.  Our goal is to have ALL 6th grade students provide this documentation before the end of May.  If you haven't done so already, check your child immunization record of call your physician to find out when they last had a Tdap vaccination.  Once the shot is completed, bring in the immunization record to your child's school they attend NOW so we can document that the requirement has been completed.

Home of the Lions!

Laurelwood's Vision Statement

Laurelwood will inspire students to pursue their aspirations, goals, and dreams for the future in a safe and supportive environment.

Laurelwood's Mission Statement

Laurelwood is committed to engaging minds and celebrating creativity. We prepare our students to think critically and independently, while instilling values of respect, hard work, and humility.  Setting high expectations, we foster a positive, caring environment to educate the whole child.  As educators, we inspire our students to become well-rounded, lifelong learners, prepared to be future leaders.

A partnership of families, staff, and community working together.  Agents of change.

Pick-Up and Drop-Off Procedures

Please help us maintain a safe environment for all students at Laurelwood by driving slowly on Partridge Drive, in the surrounding neighborhood, and into the school. With the elimination of bus transportation, we highly recommend families to walk or carpool. Laurelwood’s parking lot will remain closed to the public between the hours of 7:45 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. and again at the close of the school day from 2:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.

We added a new pick-up and drop-off lane (right side of cones) along the curb on Partridge Drive for vehicles turning into the loop.  Please stay in vehicle at all times and pull forward along the curb when possible.  Do not park on Partridge Drive between the designated "No Parking" zones where the pick-up and drop-off lane is established.

When dropping off your child, pull your vehicle all the way to the front of the loop. Wait in your car while your child is getting out of your vehicle. You are also welcome to park on the street and have your child walk onto school campus using the sidewalks. Eliminating cars driving through the parking lot creates a safer situation for our students, staff, and special needs bus riders. When picking up your child from school, do not leave your car unattended in the drop-off/pick-up zones. We ask that you park in designated parking spaces or on the street if you need to leave your vehicle for any reason. Please do not drive through the parking lot and do not park in the red zones.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Laurelwood Launches New Website (laurelwood.eesd.org)

This week Laurelwood unveiled their new school website. Over the next several months all schools in the district will transition to new websites that have a similar look and feel.  "One of the goals of this district-wide project is to improve our parents' experience when using their school's website. The new websites allow us to reduce redundant efforts and enhance communications with parents throughout the district," says Charles Crosby, director of EESD communications.  There are many new features that will improve everyone's experience, whether you are looking at the website from a laptop, desktop, tablet or from your mobile phone.

  • The new website is filled with lots of great information. We encourage you to take a minute to familiarize yourself with the menu bars and drop down menus so you know what information is available. The menu bar at the top of the page links directly to the EESD website while the menu bar in the middle takes you to everything you want to know about our school.
  • Four categories of News keep you up to date with everything going on at school and our district: School News, PTA News, District News and Community News.
  • All school, PTA and district meetings and events and activities are available on one calendar on the right side of the front page.
  • Tired of adding school events to your personal calendar? Now you can subscribe to the school calendars and an automatic feed will populate your calendar with school events and activities. Click the View All Events button at the bottom of the weekly calendar on the front page of the website. Then click on the Calendar Export Icon and select which feed you want.
  • A convenient language translation button, located at the bottom of the front page, automatically translates the entire website into 20 languages. If you prefer a language not listed in the selection box, please let us know and we can see if it is available to add.
  • The new website is responsive. This means the site will scale to fit whatever device you use making it easier to read and use.

Stop by, visit for a while and let us know what you think. Don't forget, our new website address is laurelwood.eesd.orgWe will fully merge into using the new website in 2016-2017.

Social and Emotional Learning

Each week, Laurelwood students receive a lesson utilizing the “Habits of Mind” curriculum as part of their social and emotional learning.  So far this year, your child has learned about habits #1-16.  Each lesson is taught for a two-week period to give students the opportunity to practice what they have learned.  You can assist your child by asking what they are learning during their “Habits of Mind” lessons, and by acknowledging their efforts to practice what they have learned.
