Got Tdap?

Parents of 6th graders - you will need to provide documentation that your child had a Tdap (whooping cough) booster shot given on or after 7 years old.  Our goal is to have ALL 6th grade students provide this documentation before the end of May.  If you haven't done so already, check your child immunization record of call your physician to find out when they last had a Tdap vaccination.  Once the shot is completed, bring in the immunization record to your child's school they attend NOW so we can document that the requirement has been completed.  DO NOT WAIT UNTIL SUMMER TO COMPLETE THIS REQUIREMENT.

Are your records current?

Please make sure immunization records are updated, Emergency contact current, phone numbers, work numbers, family numbers, daycare providers.  Check with the school office and/or Parent Portal (

Evergreen School District Policy regarding Birthday Celebrations at School

Although we recognize that birthday are a very special time for children and they deserve recognition, school district guidelines and board policy (BP5030) prohibit bringing food or drinks to school for birthday celebrations.  These guidelines and policies are in place to support the consistent educational message of students wellness and healthy lifestyles whether in the classroom, cafeteria or at home.  Additional impact include:

-Loss of instructional time

-Logistical constrains placed on teachers.

- Concern for our many students with food allergies.

-Added strain on the office and custodial staff.

If parents choose to provide items to the classmates in celebration of birthdays, some alternatives items may include pencils, bookmarks, stickers, or perhaps donations a book to the school or classroom library.

Teachers may elect to honor students as they see fit by giving special recognition, singing of songs, special classroom duties, etc.

Also, balloon bouquets can be distractive and/or disruptive to instruction and therefore parents are reminded of the school policy that balloon bouquets will not be delivered to classrooms during the school day. We want to thank you for your support of the school and district policies.  Working together we can maintain our focus on providing a safe and productive environment at Laurelwood School.

Laurelwood Parent Safety Survey

Dear Laurelwood Parents,

We appreciate your setting aside 5 - 10 minutes to complete this survey.   Your input is important. Please base your responses on your understanding and experience. Students and staff will have the opportunity to complete their own survey. All collected survey results will be used to prioritize goals and strategies for the Laurelwood Comprehensive School Safety Plan.

Thank you,
Linda Mora

Visitors on Campus

During school supervision hours, parents and visitors must come through the office and obtain a badge to enter the Laurelwood campus.  For the safety of the students and staff, parents are asked to stay behind the yellow lines during school hours unless they are volunteering in a classroom.  All deliveries of lunches, homework, backpacks, etc. should be delivered to the school office to ensure student safety and minimize classroom interruptions.  Thank you in advanced for your assistance and support.

Please remember to call the office for each day that your son or daughter is absent! You can reach us at 408-270-4983
