Welcome to Laurelwood School, home of the Lions. Laurelwood School prides itself in working to bring out the best in our students by creating a nurturing environment that embraces the individual learning needs of every child. Our API growth of 30 points in 2008 from 823 to 853 is evidence of this. Laurelwood teachers and staff are committed to ensuring that every child be successful. Laurelwood is a school constantly on the move; however, we do not rest our laurels until every child is successful. As a staff, we continuously challenge ourselves and seek new horizons, new opportunities and new ways of operating that will result in high achievement for all.
Laurelwood School’s vision is to provide students with a comprehensive, balanced, and assessment-driven curriculum based on State Standards with defined performance levels. We set high expectations and provide the support and enrichment each child needs to reach those expectations. We embrace the cultural diversity of our students and believe that each child is more than the sum total of his/her assessment data. Every child has strengths and needs beyond the academic. Therefore, we provide a balanced curriculum that educates the whole child.
We believe that success is measured one child at a time. Until every child is succeeding in all areas, there is work to be done. Our belief is that we work together as a family to ensure that all children succeed. The “we” is important because we believe that education is a community effort and that the involvement and collaboration of all stakeholders is necessary to support student achievement.
We hope you find any necessary information as you navigate through the school website. Should you have any questions or wish to become involved in the many activities here at Laurelwood, please feel free to contact the school office at 270-4983. We look forward to working with you and your family.
Regards,
Linda Mora
